My Color Abstract series is a return to a more vibrant color palette with an emphasis on a structured composition and carefully balanced overlapping shapes worked in both oils and acrylic on canvas.
The first works were constructed using grids after making studies of the Golden Section and Sacred Geometry. In the initial composition stage the meditative works gradually evolve into more fluid organic shapes with dynamic movement.
This series is also influenced by the color theories of New York artist Hans Hofmann and how the artist transfers his own three dimensional experience of the world into a two dimensional picture plane.
Using nature as a starting point I have manipulated the planes of color in an intuitive and improvised experiment.
Ultimately the goal is to create a modern, expressive abstract work that relates to our own experience of the world.
